ReVue Drug Evaluation Group

Founded in 1999, ReVue Drug Evaluation Group carries out evaluation of new drug entities on behalf of major third-party payors in the private sector. These evaluations are based on material provided by the pharmaceutical manufacturers as well as external data bases such as Cochrane and MedLine and look at both the clinical and economic aspects of the drug under review.

Based on the evaluations prepared by ReVue, payor clients determine how the drug will be treated under the various formularies that they manage.

ReVue also provides counsel to pharmaceutical companies on strategic positioning as well as carrying out custom work such as therapeutic class reviews for payors and pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Mitchell Levine MD, M.Sc., FRCPC
Dr. Levine is the Director of the Centre for Evaluation of Medicines, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton and is Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and the Department of Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton.

Dr. Jacques Le Lorier
Dr. Le Lorier is Chief, Pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomy research unit Research Centre, Centre hospitalier de l’ de Montreal, Campus Hotel Dieu. He is also a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal.

ReVue uses the services of external reviewers, matching the expertise of the reviewer with the therapeutics that are under review. Reviewers include:

Laura Park, B.Sc.Pharm., Pharm.D., M.Sc. Candidate. Consultant, Integra Health
Laura Park graduated from the University of Toronto with her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1995, and then completed a pharmacy residency at the Ottawa General Hospital. After completing her Doctor of Pharmacy in 1999, she engaged in a primary care practice with HIV-positive patients. Laura is actively involved in research addressing medication adherence and continues to provide consulting services to community, pharmaceutical industry, and insurance clients. Laura is completing her Masters in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University and was the recipient of the Ontario HIV Treatment Network Research Scholar award for 2000-01.

Andrew R.J. Wyllie, B.Sc.Pharm., Pharm.D. Consultant, Integra Health
Andrew Wyllie earned a bachelor of science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto in 1995 and then completed a pharmacy residency at the London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario. After completing his Doctor of Pharmacy in 1999, he practiced as a consultant for community pharmacists, the pharmaceutical industry and insurance parties. Andrew is now a drug information pharmacist in the Toronto area and continues to provide consulting services to various clients.

N.H.H. Otten, Pharm.D.
Nick Otten has extensive experience in both the clinical and economic use and analysis of drugs (both prescription and non-prescription drugs). Over the last seven years, he has conducted formal pharmacoeconomic analyses and was responsible for developing a national program for the clinical and economic evaluation at the Canadian Coordinating Office for Health Technology Assessment. In that capacity, he was responsible for preparing and publishing both the first and second edition of “for Economic Evaluation of Pharmaceuticals: Canada”. These guidelines have set the standard for conducting these types of analyses both in Canada and in many European countries. He has over 50 publications ranging from pharmacokinetics to drug utilization to economic analysis. Currently, Mr. Otten is acting as a consultant for both the private and public sector. His clients have included Health Canada, several provinces, large third-party payers, international pharmaceutical companies and small pharmaceutical companies. He has recently been named to the Therapeutic Decision Making Expert Committee of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).
